Unprecedented improvement in power sector to be celebrated from July 25 to 31

In a series of programmes being organized under the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, 'Ujjawal Bharat, Ujjawal Bhavishya - Power @ 24X7' will be celebrated across the country highlighting achievements made in the power sector in the last 75 years. Under this, Bijli Mahotsav will be organized in every district of the country from July 25 to 31, 2022, highlighting the achievements of the state in the power sector. In Haryana also similar programmes will be organized on a large scale. Haryana Chief Secretary, Sanjeev Kaushal shared this information during a meeting held under the Chairmanship of Union Minister of Power and New and Renewable Energy, Sh. R.K Singh regarding preparations of 'Ujjawal Bharat, Ujjawal Bhavishya Power @ 24X7' celebrations through video conferencing. Sanjeev Kaushal assured the Union Minister that this programme would be celebrated in a grand way in Haryana. Necessary directions have been given to the Power department and District Administration for ensuring the preparations for the same.
The Chief Secretary said that the achievements made by Haryana in the power sector under the able leadership of Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal is exemplary for other states as well. Mhara Gaon- Jagmag Gaon Yojana launched by the State Government is a lively example of this, he added. He said that the power system in Haryana is better than many other states and as a result of this there is no shortage of electricity in the state today. The Chief Secretary said that through this function, Haryana would showcase the successes of the unprecedented work done in the power sector in the state as well as they will also highlight the roadmap for the power sector in the coming 25 years. In the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary, Power Department, Sh. P.K Das informed that detailed programme has been prepared by the department. During this programme, a special depiction of how Haryana Power DISCOMs, which remained in losses in the last 25 years, has come to the position of a profitable situation today.
Das said that there is sufficient availability of electricity in the state. This is evident from the fact that on June 28, 2022, for the first time in the history of Haryana, 26.80 crore units of electricity were supplied on a daily basis. Chief Secretaries from all the states and Administrative Secretaries of the Power Department attended the meeting. Haryana Power Minister Ranjit Singh has said that the Opposition is misleading the state in the name of Adani Power Limited. When Sh. Randeep Singh Surjewala was the Power Minister, the then Chief Minister, Sh. Bhupinder Singh Hooda had signed a purchase agreement with Adani Power, for 1424 MW of power wherein 70 percent domestic coal and 30 percent imported coal was to be used, which has now been changed to 83 percent domestic and 17 percent imported coal and 1200MW of power is being taken from Adani.
