Zero tolerance policy in civic bodies: Kamal Gupta

Haryana Urban Local Bodies Minister, Dr. Kamal Gupta said that over the past nine and half years, a zero-tolerance policy against corruption is being implemented by the government in all the civic bodies, including in the municipal council, Rewari. Dr. Kamal Gupta was responding to a question asked by MLA Sh. Chiranjeev Rao during the budget session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha today.
He said that the state government has established institutional mechanisms to prevent misuse of authority. Apart from this, prompt action is being taken against officials on any corruption-related
complaints.
He said that to address corruption cases in municipalities and expedite the resolution of complaints, the Urban Local Bodies Department is actively taking steps to establish institutional mechanisms using SOPs and IT. A helpline number, 1800-180-2022/1064, has been issued for registering complaints in all municipalities in the state.
He stated that the Urban Local Bodies Department has appointed vigilance officers in regional offices to swiftly address complaints in various municipalities. Apart from this, flying squad officers from regional units have been actively conducting visits to nearby municipalities to inspect advertisements, illegal constructions, and specific complaints received by the Vigilance Wing of the ULBs.
He said that serving and retired officers have been appointed as Chief Vigilance Officers in municipalities by the department to address corruption cases.
Dr Kamal Gupta said that the beautification work of four ponds in the Barwala town will begin as soon as the approval is received from the Haryana Pond and Waste Water Management Authority and it may take about one and a half years to complete.

He also informed the house that there are five ponds within the municipal limits of Barwala town, namely Daleshar Pond, Tokan Pond, Siyani Pond/Saini Pond, Boonhi Pond/Gudhi Pond, and Peer Pond Shiv Ghat Pond, and the rejuvenation and renovation of all five ponds are under consideration.
