Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Malvinder Singh Kang strongly condemned recent statements supporting the renaming of Panjab University and alleged conspiracies to undermine its autonomy. Kang accused Haryana Congress MP Deepender Hooda of speaking BJP's language and the BJP of orchestrating politically motivated attempts to dilute Punjab's cultural and constitutional heritage.

"Panjab University is not just an educational institution; it is a symbol of Punjab's historical, cultural, and emotional legacy. Established long before Partition, it reflects the soul of Punjabi language, culture, and values. Attempts to associate Haryana's name with Panjab University are unwarranted, unconstitutional, and deeply insulting to Punjab," Kang stated.

Highlighting historical facts, Kang pointed out that Haryana's colleges voluntarily disaffiliated from Panjab University in 1973 under the leadership of former Haryana Chief Minister Bansi Lal. "For over 50 years, Haryana has had no affiliation with Panjab University. On what grounds do they now claim ownership or demand a name change? If Haryana leaders are so keen, they should establish a Haryana University instead of eyeing Punjab's heritage," he remarked.Kang further criticized the BJP for allegedly undermining the university's democratic structure. "For the past two years, the BJP has stalled Senate elections, crippling the governance and autonomy of Panjab University. It is evident they aim to take control of this prestigious institution. Hooda's statement aligns with BJP's agenda, proving that Congress and BJP are two sides of the same coin," Kang charged.

Kang reaffirmed CM Bhagwant Mann's commitment to protecting Punjab's interests. "Panjab University belongs to Punjab. We will never allow any interference, renaming, or attempts to dilute its identity. If necessary, we are prepared to protest on the streets or seek legal remedies to preserve our heritage," he asserted.
