Ntl meet on artificial intelligence at Pbi Varsity

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Punjabi University organised a two days International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
Focussing on research trends in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Department Head Dr. Maini said that data science is heading towards a new technological paradigm shift where one can teach machines to learn from existing data and derive a variety of useful insights. He added that machine learning has been one of the most prominent areas of research in computer science, information technology and all other disciplines.
He further added that various delegates from renowned universities have participated in the conference to discuss their research ideas.
Prof. S. Anantha Ramakrishna, Director, CSIR-CSIO, (Central Scientific Instruments Organization) Ministry of Science & Technology, was chief guest of the inaugural ceremony.
Dr. Ramakrishna said that in coming times AI and Machine Learning have multifarious and pervasive applications in different fields that will directly impact the common man. He said that these types of technical events surely help in carrying forward the research works to the next level.
Prof. Arvind, Vice-Chancellor of Punjabi university, presided over the inaugural session.
He said that the world is still in the midst of the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic situation. But AI and Machine Learning technologies will take healthcare to the next level and help in combating such types of situations in future.
Prof. (Dr.) Vincenzo Piuri, from University of Milan, Italy, and Prof. (Dr.) Radu Prodan, Institute for Information Technology, University of Klagenfurt, Austria had joined the inaugural session through online mode and presided the keynote addresses on fog computing in AI and Parallel computing infrastructure respectively.
