Haryana has become a powerhouse of sports: Gaurav Gautam

Haryana's Minister of State for Sports Sh. Gaurav Gautam said the Central and State Governments are committed to the all-round development of players. The players of Haryana are bringing glory to the country and state by winning medals in Olympics, World Championship, Asian and Commonwealth Games. This is the result of hard work of players and shows that the sports policy made by the Haryana Government is also good. The government is working to hone the sports talent of the players from the school level itself, due to which today Haryana has become a powerhouse of sports.
Gaurav Gautam was addressing the players as the chief guest after inaugurating the Under-17 National Wrestling Championship being organized from May 25 to 27 at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Stadium in Palwal under the joint aegis of Chandigarh UT Wrestling Association and Wrestling Association of India.
600 wrestlers of the country are participating in this national wrestling competition, which includes 450 boys and 150 girls. The Sports Minister said be it any sports competition at the national level or Olympics, Commonwealth or Asian Games at the international level, Haryana state, which has about two percent of the country's population, has an important contribution in getting the maximum number of medals for India in all these games.
