Superintendent of Police (SP) Deoria, Shri Vikrant Veer, on Tuesday carried out a foot patrol in the Salempur police station area to address law and order concerns as well as improve traffic management. During his visit, he inspected key markets and main roads, and took immediate action to clear temporarily encroached roads. Accompanied by the Salempur police officials and local police personnel, SP Veer led the effort to ensure public spaces were returned to their rightful function.
The actions taken by him included: Engagement with Locals: SP Vikrant Veer took time to engage with local traders and citizens, discussing the challenges caused by road encroachment. He appealed for cooperation, reminding everyone that roads are public property and should remain clear for the convenience and safety of all.
Encroachment Removal: As part of the immediate action, the police removed illegally placed shops, street carts, and other obstructions from various spots where roads were encroached.
Traffic Management: To facilitate smoother traffic flow, SP Veer identified suitable locations for barricading and designated parking spaces along the main roads, easing congestion.
The SP emphasized that encroachments not only disrupt traffic flow but also pose a serious challenge to emergency services. He urged citizens to voluntarily remove encroachments and cooperate with the administration in keeping roads clear. He also warned that strict measures would be implemented if encroachment reoccurs in the future.
As a part of the action, the district police issued a total of 256 e-challans to vehicles violating traffic rules, further promoting road discipline and ensuring smoother traffic operations.
