category Regional,, tags Regional,, DW BUREAU George Chahal, Liberal Party MP from Canada, here today said that Canada would support academic, educational, cultural, youth and research exchanges with India. He conveyed this to Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chancellor of the Rayat Bahra University, when he called on the latter at the university campus and suggested academic collaboration with the RBU. Chahal discussed possibilities of faculty development programmes by inviting RBU faculty members to Canada under an exchange programme. On similar lines a student exchange programme could be worked out so that students from his state and the Rayat Bahra University could spend time in each other s universities, he suggested. The Liberal Party MP said that in its engagement with India, Canada will invest in and connect people, including by bolstering Canada s visa-processing capacity in New Delhi and Chandigarh. Chahal, who before entering federal politics, he was a Councillor for Ward 5 on the Calgary City Council from 2017 to 2021 said that Canada would support academic, educational, cultural, youth and research exchange programmes .
