BKU (Sidhupur) reconstitutes unit in Samrala


category Regional,, tags Regional,, DW BUREAU With a view to the extend and strengthen the union base in the villages the BKU (Sidhupur) has started it s contact programme among the peasants. During the ongoing programme the whole unit collectively reached Kot Gangu Rai village and elected a new team of office bearers. President Sohan Singh, Senior Vice-President Harnek Singh, Vice-President Gursharan Singh, general secretary Bhavanjot Singh, cashier Dalvir Singh, secretary Jagjit Dass, media secretary Gurmeet Singh, adviser Hardip Singh and Jasvir Singh were elected. The election was conducted under the supervision of district president Supinder Singh Bagga. He advised the newly elected office bearers to work for the unity of the farmers. On this occasion while talking to this reporter Bagga said that the BJP government ruling at Delhi under the influence of corporate houses is trying to snatch the the land holdings of small farmers. He said that to defeat the deep rooted conspiracy of the BJP Government, the farming community should unite. He said earlier the designs of the government came to the fore when it brought the anti farmer s bills. The farmers then thwarted the government s move successfully. He said that we know the government is not in favour of the farmers. It can again come with anti farmer s policies any time in future. He said the farmers should be ready to fight against any anti farmer s policies. (editor dailyworld.in)
