Pulse Polio SNID round kicks off in 13 Haryana districts


DW BUREAU / Chandigarh The first Sub National Immunization (SNID) round of Pulse Polio 2021-22 has been started in 13 districts of Haryana today in which 13.40 lakh children were administered anti-polio drugs. The children who were not immunized during the booth activity on 1st day will be administered polio vaccine drops on June 20 & 21, 2022 through visit of house-to-house teams in high risk areas like slums, isolated hutments, brick kilns, floating/ migrating population & construction sites. An official spokesperson said that Polio drops were administered to children in Ambala, Faridabad, Gurgaon, Jhajjar, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Mewat, Palwal, Panchkula, Panipat, Rohtak, Sonipat and Yamunanagar in which booth activity was undertaken on the first day in order to maintain the polio free status of the State. In view of present scenario of Covid 19 pandemic all health officials and front line workers are working with full precaution like use of personal protective equipment, Mask, sanitizer, gloves etc. Teams are following the hand hygiene, respiratory hygiene & social distancing measures. The spokesperson said that in most of the districts booths have been inaugurated by eminent personalities from district administration and Civil surgeons. Approximately 25 lakh children are to be covered during this campaign in the state. This campaign will continue for another two days by way of House-to-House activity to trace and administer polio drops to the left out children on booth day. On the 1st day of activity, approximately 54% (13,40,000) children under 5 years of age have been administered polio drops. In order to smoothly carry out this campaign, around 13000 booths were setup in the state and these were manned by approximately 50,000 health officials/volunteers/Anganwari Workers/ASHA etc. About 2100 officers/officials supervised the activity apart from Independent Monitors of NPSP-WHO. This activity was preceded by undertaking awareness campaign through print media, miking, and other IEC activities. (editor@dailyworld.in)
