DW Bureau | Chandigarh, October 30: PLPB Infra has partnered with Aurus Luxury Residences to develop around 3,000 studio apartments for students across Punjab over the next four to five years.
The first project will come up at PLPB Wellness City on Zirakpur-Patiala Road towards Rajpura. The proposed expansion will cover Rajpura and major cities, including Mohali, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Bathinda.
Announcing the collaboration at a press conference at the Chandigarh Press Club, PLPB CEO and Managing Director Sumit Singla said the project aimed to address the growing demand for organised student accommodation.
"After the success of PLPB Wellness City, we plan to develop around 3,000 studio apartments for students in collaboration with Aurus," Singla said.
He said the partnership would combine PLPB Infra's infrastructure capabilities with Aurus's experience in student accommodation and hospitality.
Bharat Agarwal, founder of The Hive Hostels and Aurus Luxury Residences, said student accommodation in India was evolving, with students and their families increasingly looking for professionally managed facilities offering more than just a place to stay.
"Our endeavour is to bring together hospitality, thoughtful design, modern amenities and a vibrant community. Our association with PLPB Infra will help us take this vision to Chandigarh and Punjab, beginning with PLPB Wellness City," Agarwal said.
Agarwal co-founded The Hive Hostels in 2019, which has expanded to more than 11 cities across India.
Aurus Luxury Residences plans to offer fully furnished student accommodation with facilities such as high-speed Wi-Fi, dedicated study areas, fitness and recreational spaces, dining services and round-the-clock security.
The proposed residences will focus on safety, convenience and community engagement, alongside facilities to support students' academic and social needs.
Agarwal said the collaboration reflected the growing potential of organised student housing as an emerging segment of India's hospitality and real estate sectors.
