Election Officials Trained on IT Modules for Electoral Roll Revision

DW Bureau Chandigarh, June 5: A training programme on Information Technology (IT) modules for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 of electoral rolls was organised here on Friday for election officials and technical functionaries from Punjab, Haryana and the Union Territory of Chandigarh.
The programme was conducted by the Election Commission of India (ECI) to familiarise officials with the IT systems and software applications being used during the ongoing electoral roll revision exercise.
The training aimed to ensure uniform implementation of procedures, enhance IT preparedness and facilitate the efficient conduct of the revision process.
Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Punjab, Anindita Mitra said the Special Intensive Revision is an important exercise to ensure that electoral rolls remain accurate, inclusive and updated. She stressed the importance of trained personnel and effective use of technology in maintaining the integrity and transparency of the electoral process.
The technical sessions were conducted by senior officers and IT experts from the Election Commission of India. Among those leading the sessions was Dr Seema Khanna, along with a team of technical administrators.
Mitra reiterated the commitment of the state's election machinery to carry out the Special Intensive Revision in a professional, transparent and citizen-centric manner in accordance with ECI guidelines.
